Make-up Mishaps Many Women Make

Makeup trends come and go. We all get bored with how we look and try to change it up a bit once and a while. But many makeup trends are for young flawless skin and when an older women tries to push the look, it rarely works...unless its Halloween. We all have had a bad makeup day and when you look at a picture of yourself and say "What was I thinking!" Its time to do rethink your makeup. So don't get caught doing any of these make-up mishaps!!!!

1) All that Glitters is NOT Great! I have yet to see anyone young or old wear glittery eyeshadow well. In any application the glitter shadow totally overwhelms the face and is so distracting you can't stop looking at the persons eyelids and not into their eyes. Glitter belongs in arts & crafts not in makeup.
2) Caked on Foundation. Don't Spackle on foundation, concealer and powder to cover up flaws. This will only emphasize the flaw and bring more attention to it. Use a moisturizer under makeup and a concealer that is only one or two shades lighter than your skin-tone. Powder should be applied lightly and check your look in the mirror, preferably in a similar light that you will be in. If you will be outside or inside, candlelight or florescent light. Use a Moisturizing mist throughout the day to spritz your face and keep makeup looking fresh longer.

3) Eye color Overkill! A rainbow is beautiful but not on your face. Too many colors on your face looks artificial and winds up looking dated and whorish. A good rule of thumb is if you are playing up your eyes then your lips should be understated. If you are playing up your lips, then your eyes should be more subdued.

4) Faking your lip-line to get bigger lips. It is a fine line between lips looking lusciously plump and clownishly fake. This technique should be used cautiously. It is meant to enhance your natural lip-line...and not try to create an entirely new one. The liner should only be two or three shades darker than the lipstick you will be wearing. It should follow the edge of your natural lip-line not redraw it.

5) Cheekbone lines, blush that is too dark and is not the right shade for your undertones. Blush color should be in the same color family as your skin's undertones. If you have cool undertones you need a cool blush, if you have warm undertones you need a warm blush. IF you have a very fair skin tone your blush should be a light shade. Applying blush is tricky but what you want to do is smile and start applying it on the apple of your smile and stroke back toward your ear. Then lightly brush some across your forehead, tip of nose and chin. But you need to blend, blend, blend so you do not get a harsh line or look like you have a fever/sunburn.

6) Eyeliner Overkill. A smokey eye look becomes very unflattering when black liner is used like an outline in a cartoon. As a women ages eyeliner should get a little lighter and softer. It should be blended a little and not extend to far into the upper orbital bone. Fair skinned and blondes should go with a charcoal color or dark brown color and not a jet black.

7) The pillow face. Women are using more and more filler to try and restore a more youthful appearance but many are going overboard with this technique and its making them look puffy, bloated and almost unrecognizable. The promise of regaining your youthful face is a very strong incentive for using cosmetic fillers but is it really delivering on its promise. Or is it just creating a weird distorted version of your former self. You can really tell the women that have had it and go too far because of the tell tail puffy, pillow facial distortion it creates. If you go this rote be very conservative and selective on where you have it or you will wind up looking like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man!
